We believe being born with a heart disorder should not be a death sentence.

We believe EVERY child deserves a healthy heart and a healthy life.
We believe they deserve a possibility to live a full life in the company of their families.

At Friends of Kardias, we believe being born with a heart disorder should not be a death sentence. That is why we support programs like Kardias that provide EVERY child, regardless of ability to pay, a possibility to live a full and healthy life

The Friends of Kardias Foundation was created as a fundraising vehicle for Kardias A.C. in Mexico. We work solely to support Kardias’ program in Mexico to provide free open-heart surgery, catheterization and follow-ups to low-income, Mexican children born with this condition.

Kardias enables state-of-the-art medical treatment to Mexican children with congenital heart defects.

Since 2001, over 3,500 children have received the life-saving treatments they needed thanks to the Kardias program.

Kardias' partners

Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) is ranked as the best high specialty center for the treatment of congenital heart disease in the US. The alliance with the TCH allows doctors to perform annual rotations in their Cardiovascular Center and perform, in conjunction with specialists from said center, joint sessions and visits to the cardiovascular intensive care unit through a telemedicine system.

The American British Cowdray Hospital: The ABC-Kardias program has focused on designing strategies to have a unique multidisciplinary team of health professionals in its cardiology and cardiovascular surgery unit. This has made it possible to develop care protocols for girls and boys with congenital heart diseases that place us at the level of the best centers of excellence in the world.

Since 2012, Kardias is part of the International Quality Improvement Collaborative (IQIC), an audited database to track clinical outcomes of in-hospital and 30-day mortality, surgical site and bloodstream infections, and nutritional status.
